April News

There are only eight weeks of school left, but plenty of opportunities to raise money for La Paloma and our community. Please join us in our end-of-the-year fundraising efforts. The activities and programs we have coming up in the last few weeks are great ways for our school to give back to the community and to raise funds for next school year.

Race for the Cure
Join LPA as we help to Race for the Cure! We have put a team of 20 staff together, but we would love to have more. If you would like to join Mrs. Stewart’s team, you may do so by calling her and emailing her at krnstewart9@gmail.com. The more team members we have, the better! We are doing this to show our support for all the LPA families who have gone through, are going through, or will go through a serious illness.

Yearbook Sale
Get your 2009-2010 yearbook before they are all gone! They are currently on sale for $30 through April 16. You don’t want to miss out on all of these year’s memories. Quantities are limited so please order yours today!

Penny War Week
It’s that time of year again! Penny War Week is scheduled for April 26 – 30. This great fundraiser is very easy and yet so much fun! Each “team” will collect as many pennies as possible during the week in an effort to raise money for the chosen organizations: Jump for Heart and the Gootter Foundation. The teams will be boys vs. girls, and the winner will receive a free dress down day! Last year, our students and staff raised over $1000 during Penny War Week. Let’s do our best to surpass last year’s total!

February & March Fundraising

Two Major Fundraisers Are Coming Up!
March 20: The Raising Funds 4 Raising Kids Golf Tournament is our biggest fundraiser It’s our chance to raise the rest of the money we need for the computers already in the libraries.
February 22 to March 10: Our Cookie Dough Fundraiser will help the school and classes raise the extra funds they need.

Yearbooks!
Yearbooks are now $35. The yearbooks will be here until the last week of May. We will also have a special yearbook-signing party.

Clothing Bank
We have a parent volunteer who will be opening the bank soon. We are going to be open two days a week from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. and again from 3:15 to 4:00 p.m. You do not need to pay or exchange clothing. If you have clothing, please bring it in, but it is not required.

Science Fair Open House
It will take place Friday, Feb. 19 from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. Both schools will have their projects on display at Lakeside in the gym. There will be also food for sale.

Book Swap! We Need Books!!
We would like to set up a book-swapping area here at the school. If you have any books that you are not using and could donate to our cause, please bring them in anytime. Thanks for your help in this endeavor.

February Fundraising

Tee it up Tucson! It’s that time again at La Paloma Academy. One of our largest fundraisers of the year is right around the corner – the Raising Funds 4 Raising Kids Golf Classic. Mark your calendar for our third annual tournament. We hope this year's event can top the last two! The golf classic will take place at Forty Niner Country Club on Saturday, March 20. The format is a four-man scramble with golfing beginning at 7:30 a.m. A complimentary lunch, raffle and silent auction will follow. We hope you can be a part of it! Invite your friends and family and help spread the word!

All proceeds from the tournament will go towards expanding programs at the school and enhancing programs at La Paloma Academy to make them even better. More specifically, this year's fundraising goal is to raise money for technology which has become so important in each of our classrooms. Our main goal for the money raised will be to expand our computer labs so that many more students can use computers at once.

We are excited to sign up players, sponsors, and volunteers for the day.
Sponsorship opportunities:
  • Tournament Sponsor - $4,000
A great business opportunity, providing sponsor with tremendous exposure including a large company logo banner at the entrance, one golf foursome, a lunch for four and a feature on the La Paloma Academy website.

  • Scoreboard Sponsor - $500
This sponsorship includes the company or individual sponsor’s name on a large scoreboard during lunch. Great placement for your company, as everyone looks to who took home the title.

  • Hole Sponsor - $200 per hole
This sponsorship includes the company or individual sponsor’s name on signage at the tee…the place everyone will be!

There are even more ways you can help. We are hoping to get more item donations for our raffle and silent auction that will take place during lunch. Some great donations include sports memorabilia, gift certificates, donated hotel nights, goods and services, and more! To learn more about this year’s tournament, please visit the golf website by clicking here. We can’t wait to see you on the greens on March 20! Thank you for being a part of changing a child’s education for the better.
