News to Use

At La Paloma Academy, fundraising is exactly that…FUN! We’d like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the Sally Foster and cookie dough fundraisers this month – they were an incredible success! In fact, with your combined efforts, we have raised $30,000 towards an awesome new computer lab! That merits a big "thank you" to students, parents, staff and teachers. We will keep you informed as to when we expect our new computers to be delivered and be ready for use on campus. The students and faculty are thrilled!

We are moving forward with more fundraising opportunities here at La Paloma Academy that we'd like to keep you informed about. Our business expo is coming up quickly. The cost is $25 to participate at one campus and $40 for both. The business expos will take during Cookies with Santa nights: December 8 at Lakeside and December 10 at Central.

Another festive favorite is also right around the corner… it’s our Holiday Shop! If you have some free time, we still need volunteers! Students will have a walk-through day on Monday, December 7 to plan their purchases and it opens for business Tuesday, December 8 through Friday, December 11. This is a great opportunity for students to purchase gifts for their families and friends.

Just a reminder that La Paloma always has SCRIP gift cards available for order at the front desk. This is another great fundraiser for us that does not cost you any extra! Just stop by the office, place your order for your SCRIP cards and we'll get them to you in just a few days. When you use the cards, the retailer donates a percentage of your purchase back to LPA! These make great stocking stuffers, too. Currently we have SCRIP cards available for Wal-Mart, Safeway, Subway, Bashas' and more.

We would also like to express our appreciation for the overwhelming number of non-perishable food donations we received for our families in need this year. The best gift during the holiday season is the gift of caring (which is also one of the foci of our Character Counts program), and it's a great example to set for kids of all ages.

Please let us know if you have any great fundraising ideas. We want to use this blog as a portal for advancing our school and community. Look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you,
Your team at La Paloma Academy
